C&TSRR Herons

I took the morning off and went down to the South part of the C&TSRR yard this morning.

We have a small rookery next to our railroad yard (8 active nests). All Of the in flight shots are from the railroad property. If you are sitting on one of the benches at the depot its not unusual to see a Heron fly by.

Interesting to see that critter in the high mountain desert. They like to hang out here in Florida too.
Also we have lots of ospreys here, which seem to be Florida/New Mexico snowbirds too.
If you drive around Lake Okeechobee, about an hour north of here, there are lots of bald eagles.

Keep the critter pictures coming Roger, I really enjoy them!

Your wildlife photos also help generate interest in friends and family members that aren't as into the railroad as I am.
