Fred Springer's Passing

Unread postby Tim Tennant » Thu Apr 19, 2012 7:31 am

It is with deep sadness that we inform everyone that Fred Springer passed away last night Wednesday April 18, 2012 at his home in Santa Fe. Fred was a dear friend and I will always remember the many trips that I personally took with him to such events as the Narrow Gauge Convention. I had a fair amount of windshield time with Fred and can tell you he was a wealth of knowledge and interesting to listen to. Whether talking about railroading or the oil business, he had stories and you quickly realized what a unique individual Fred was. He was a true gentleman and would do anything for you. Fred will be buried in Sweetwater, TX and a memorial service will be held in Santa Fe, NM. We do not have any details yet but will pass those along when we receive them. Please keep Fred's wife Dale and their family in your thoughts and prayers. For those of us who knew Fred we can consider ourselves fortunate. The last train has departed and Fred is now in a better place.
