In the evening light the historical inaccuracy is almost tolerable...

And the second photo is an even better shot of the still completely disassembled 484.

Yes, it could be a LOT worse.

I sure hope that the tender lettering is restored. That was really nice.

Yes, it could be a LOT worse.

Now just wait a minute there! That was a work of art, a thing of beauty, a historic recreation and the result of many long hours of work by a dedicated team of artists.

Evan, Do you know if the movie guys are using "removable, washable" paint? (Which never does quite clean off all the way)

Well, I agree it was a historic recreation and took a group of good guys a LOT of effort to put together. And yes, lots of talent was needed to make this happen. I'm grateful they did it and I'm grateful I was able to be there to take part in the 40th Anniversary of this remarkable railroad. I even got to meet some of the incredible gentlemen that helped save the railroad. It was a fantastic weekend!

But... "beauty" isn't a word I'd use to describe this paint scheme. :smiley16:

Your all very welcome for the pictures, I'm glad your enjoying them!

We'll be seeing the blue locomotive here soon, don't worry. But I'll save you all the torture of photos unless anyone requests any.

The movie people put black wax over the lettering on the tender of the 463, and theoretically it is supposed to be be able to be washed away to return the former lettering to visibility. But what really gets me is that (I'm pretty sure) D&RGW would never have been seen on the tender of a D&RGW locomotive.

Also they've got some new lettering on some box cars (on a removable piece of wood) that says something like "Southern Railway Company" right next to D&RGW, so what they're really going for I'll never know.

Evan,
Any photos you take, I would love to see. It's always great to have updates on what's going in chama.
And I believe you are correct that none of the locomotives had D&RGW on the tender. I believe they had the Engine Number on the tender.
Enjoy

PS: Just for the record I'm not against Thomas... I just don't want any k-27/36's painted Blue....

Evan, I'm really glad you're there for the summer!
Black wax? is the lettering paint or vinyl. I'm asking 'cause that could be the answer for the on going debate amongst some about how the tenders should be lettered. covering the side of the tender with a magnetic "Rio Grande" shows up ugly in photos so people are looking for another way.

PS: Blue loco good for future foamers, very bad for old eyes.
