Here is an update on the work that is in progress on the 463:
Most of the air lines in the cab are complete. 10% - 15% remain uncompleted including main reservoirs.
All grease cellars have been dropped and screens replaced.
Driving box wedges need to be adjusted.
Pins for spring rigging have been turned so cotter keys are exposed on the outside of the frame for easy inspection.
Yokes for pilot and trailing trucks have been installed.
Steam dome cover and sand dome are in place.
Stack was plumbed as much as possible over exhaust nozzle and grouted.
Brake rigging is in progress and mostly complete.
Tapered pins for crosshead are being machined.
Following the completion of the brake rigging, the locomotive will be trammed and the side rods applied. Overall, Max, Jose, Jake and Lucas are making excellent progress. Marvin estimates there is about a weeks worth of work on the tender. Per conversation yesterday, intends to renew the wheels on the rear truck of the tender.
Our thanks to Ken Matzick and Marvin Casias for furnishing us with these progress reports.
