Locomotive 463 News Update

In a continuing effort to keep everyone apprised of the status on the 463 project we want to report that there was a conference call late last week with Friends, C&TS and American Heritage management. Each organization continues to be committed to complete the project and working in unison to see that the locomotive is once again operational. From that call it was determined that the railroad will undertake an inventory of 463 parts in Antonito and determine what may be missing or misplaced. The target will then be that work will begin in earnest with a dedicated crew shortly after January 1, 2013. The 463 is in the C&TS Engine Shop in Antonito and that is where the work will be completed. AHR mechanical personnel have estimated that it will take approximately 1,500 man-hours to finish the project.

Tim, It's great to see that a plan for the completion of 463 has been put in motion and that it is a joint effort by all of the interested parties. It is wonderful to know that everyone involved is pulling together.
