Tim asked me to post this update from Marty Knox.
----
Here is an update that Marty put together.
The crew has begun insulating and jacketing the boiler. Tom Artzberger has delivered the pins and bushings, and is machining the saddle bolts. I am fabricating new expansion brackets for the throat sheet. The bulk of the painting is complete; the only major item left to paint is the jacket. This will be done once the entire jacket is in place. We are replacing most of the lower panels due to corrosion of the old ones. The driving boxes are complete and were delivered to Monte Vista on January 20th. Once they are onsite the crew will need to 'scrape them in', which means fitting them to each journal. Bob Sullivan, an expert machinist, has joined the team and is proving to be a big asset. He is machining many of the smaller items; one of the first jobs Bob completed was reboring the spring hangers for the new pins and bushings. Next week we will begin assembling the spring rigging.
Marty and I antiicpate that the locomotive will be moved from Monte Vista to Antonito around the third or fouth week in March.
