Well no rain today to spoil the activities going on. Sunny with cloudy periods and temperatures upper 70's for the most part. The most interesting thing going on today was the placing of the air tank into the sand house. The Friends have been working most of the summer sessions repairing the sand house getting it ready to provide sand to the locomotives on a daily basis. Next step, which should happen tomorrow is raising the storage tank for the sand onto the tower from which gravity will allow locomotive crews to fill the sand dome. Keep in mind that this air tank weighs around 800 lbs.

Using a bucket loader with folk attachments and a sling, then get to moving the tank toward the board that will be used to roll it to the sand house

The crew has almost gotten the tank to the board

The crew now man handles the tank along the boards

They now have the tank starting to tip over into the pit where it will reside

The crew has moved the tank far enough to attach the come-along directly to the top of the tank

Lowering is begining

Before the tank is lowered the final few inches, a plumb bob was lowered through the hole in the roof where the air pipe needs to go to ensure alignment

Years ago when the Friends were working on that tank, the reason the pipe was clogged up was because there was a rat that somehow got inside the pipe and died, when they applied pressure it shot out the pipe to the sand hopper on the tower. For awhile it was known as the 'rat-a-pault'.

Now the conversion of the p box to box car 3537 for Wednesday.

The newly constructed door for the left side of the car is almost ready to install. The MOW bunk car can be seen in the background.

The full crew of the 3537 is man handling the door up onto the track as Dr. McMullen from the bunk car acts as spotted

The door is on and Don Bayer is checking to see how freely is rolls

The windows have been attached to the car. Unbeknown to the crew they would have to remove them for the car to be painted
