Hello everyone!
I purchased the rubber stamp in the attached photo. It reads "San Juan D. & R. G. W. R.R." and shows a locomotive. It was made by C. Palmer of East Hartford, CT. The wooden block the rubber is attached to measures roughly 1.5" by 2.25". If I had to guess the age, I was thinking late '50s, early '60s.
The dealer selling it had no idea it was related to the Denver & Rio Grande and our beloved San Juan Extension. At first I thought it might have been made for use on commemorative covers carried on the line. The dealer thought it was related to the business of the line.
Has anyone on the forum seen this stamp used anywhere? Any information you could share would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
James
