A lot of progress at Cumbres

Work continues at the stock pens. One would think airline executives reached the brilliant idea of boarding groups from this:


Craig and the wood shop crew are replacing rotted wood on the tank cars.


Don is replacing rotted sills with Marshal and George in the box car which will be the kitchen supply .


I caught our Chronicler in the Chama bunk house.


Clyde and brooks look like they're ready to plow ahead with wheels and brakes.

I am SO GLAD that Craig McMullen has taken on replacing the wood on the walks on the tank cars as the old wood decking was falling apart when we sandblasted them last summer. The end result is gonna look great! Looking at all the work the other teams are doing will make a big difference on not only the appearance, but the longevity of the equipment in our care.

It is also exciting to see the great headway Bob Conroy and his team is making on the section house up on Cumbres Pass. And LOOK, we got a porch again! (The old one was getting dangerous as so much wood was rotten). Working up at 10,000 feet elevation is hard to do yet they just keep plugging away and the results are great!

Now, need to put up netting to keep those darn birds from tearing up the place again.....
