Great pictures Jason. The second one kind of takes me back to the '40's. Great composition.

Thanks Steve.

The 40's? I'll bet you've got some great railroad stories to tell!

Thanks Jason but I'm not quite that old. Just a lot of books about the Denver and Rio Grande Western and the Rio Grande Southern. Plenty of the old black & white photos to reference and your shot looked a lot like those. Sorry to disappoint you about the stories.

Great photos, Jason! What is that item just to the right of the tracks? Can't quite see it in the fog. The "40's?" Lot's of smoke 'n' cinders then. Like my favorite one here - PM 1225.

Absolutely love the Photoshopped version - really looks like its from back in the good old days!

Thanks guys.

The structure to the right is an oil storage shed, I think.

Both shots are PhotoShopped, actually. The parking lot was full of cars. ;-)

Mr. Murray pointed out that the shot is slanted. D'OH!!

So, I fixed it. Thanks, Rich.

You're welcome.

That's one of the risks of multitasking while at work. The obvious things occasionally get overlooked.

Not to undermine Rich, but I liked the photo before you fixed the slant. In my perspective, it adds character.
Enjoy,
Blake

Frankly I thought the original tilt was simply the ground on a slight hill, or the train itself leaning a bit -- would never have noticed unless it was pointed out! Whatever way, the photo looks pretty good tilted or straight!

Not undermining at all, Blake. If we didn't have our own opinions there would be no need for conversation.

I think I am have to agree with Blake. After all, it is going around a curve, isn't it? Hence, depending on the grounds, it could lean a wee bit. Also, enjoy photo No. 1, too, with just a little bit of color. Overall,......Nice job!

This, "I've seen those last 2 before" tells me that it's too long since I was out there taking photos. Time to saddle up!

Well seeing as you asked!! -- I don't have much I can share on this site, primarily my best shots are some wildlife shots and the times I spent during the last years of space shuttle flights from KSC. I won't post off topic pics here - but if you wish to view some of them links below.

As long as we don't go overboard a few photos that stray from the straight and narrow will be ok.
Having said that here's one that only strays a bit. If any of us don't recognize this cafe, we haven't spent enough time in narrow gauge country

I love that tender photo, it has a forlorn look about it.

Thank you for the kind words Rich. I still think you and Jason beat me hands down on photography. The only way my photos come out the way they do is with a lot of photoshop (And alot of knowledge from time spent staring at train books, forums, and Jason's website)
Thanks,
Blake

Blake, back "in the day" we spent a lot of time in the dark room. Todays equal to that is Photoshop. If you are trying to create images, as opposed to recording history, then learning how to use the tools that are available can be a rewarding hobby in it's own right. Personally I never want to be accused of faking something so there is no doubt that most of what I post is an attempt to be creative. Sometimes it even works.
If you have the interest (and the time) work on your post processing skills. It's a rewarding rainy day past time.
