Train Photos (Split from Photo of the Day Thread)

Unread postby Thomas Leimbach » Thu Jan 12, 2012 1:32 pm

Jason and All,

Yes, I believe that it would be fun to see more train-related pictures here. Today is a cold, snowy day in Wheaton, Illinois, so it's a good time for me to add a few of my own.

I plan to attach 4 pictures, all of which were taken on October 1, 2011.

#1 Image 4505, entitled "Turkey to the right, meatloaf to the left".
#2 Image 4508, entitled "A man who enjoys his work".
#3 Image 4535, entitled "Fall Colors, 2011".
#4 Image 4381, entitled "Chama parking lot - a look to the past".

Thanks for looking.

Great photos Tom. You can look at Steve and know he is a good cook, and he is! I just love the fall colors, I have got to get out there myself someday.

Ten laps around that dirt parking lot all following one another would make them look more realistic.

Tom, more train pictures is always a good thing! :smiley24: :smiley24:

I'm almost done posting the photos from my trip up there in September on my website. My wife and I spent several days on the C&T and D&S, as well as the LC&S. There are also photos from South Fork, Creede, Lake City, Leadville, Minturn, Breckenridge, Como, Phantom Canyon, Cañon City, and Alamosa. It was a helluva trip!

I'll post some of the best shots here (on the appropriate sub-forums) next week as well as a link to the full trip report.

Jason,

Very nice pictures. Thanks for posting them.

On September 29, 2011, just several days before we rode the Cumbres & Toltec RR, my wife and I spent the day riding in the parlor car of the Durango Silverton RR. It was our third trip with both railroads. We also rode the Georgtown Loop for the first time.

I am going to post some of the pictures I took on this other trip. Besides some shots I took of the train, you will see pictures on the landscape along the way, a picture of the overhead light fixture in the parlor car, an area along the right-of-way that suffered a rock slide in June, and pictures of the town of Silverton.

I'm still attempting to figure out how to put pictures in the order I want, but I believe that their content will be obvious.
