I have asked a lot of folks if they remember loading a days train of passengers at the first crossing and so far no one remembers this ever happening before. A movie is being filmed at the Chama yard so no one is allowed in the yard. Movie = HOSTILES

Nice video of this once in a life time experience. I guess that since the rider gon and caboose were empty, no problem with 487 taking 9 cars up the hill.

It IMHO was well worth going out to see it.

Nice video Roger, how long did it take to load passengers? Was there a backlog of cars waiting at highway 17?

I did not time it, probably a little less than 10 minutes. A few cars and most got out of their cars to watch the action.

In other words, pretty much like a normal loading and crossing of 17. Although the crossing of 17 was slower than usual.

The railroad did a GREAT job at getting this done.
