Great shots! Though they are not part of the duck family, they don't have webbed feet - which apparently is one of the considerations of a duck. Actually considered to be in the rail family.

We have them by the 100's here at this time of year, favorite food of the gators, and have seen one taken by a Bald Eagle once.
