That is one handsome and amazing creature. The cranes don't come down to roost around here, but when they are flying far overhead, they make an incredible racket. They usually fly so high that it can be hard to spot the flock, but you can still hear them!

You are right they are very loud.

Roger, The cranes roost areas are both in Colorado and New Mexico. How far from Chama ?

Monte Vista, Colorado is the closes at about 75 miles.
