After a great week working with the Friends, it was time to get back to the chase. This edition covers Saturday 7/30/16 on a chase of 216 out of Chama with 489.
My first set up was an overlook which shows the Rio Chama bridge and Juke's tree.
The 489 is over the bridge and is passing the tree.
489 is by Juke's tree and the smoke from the locomotive almost obscures it.
I jumped ahead and we now see train 216 as it enters Labato meadow.
The train is now crossing Labato trestle over Wolf Creek.
The 489 is blowing for 2d crossing.
The all important fire patrol speeder and its water trailer is approaching 2d crossing.
Looking down from Colorado 17 we see 216 as it approaches 3d crossing
The Cumbres section house with the new semaphore installed by the Friends.
489 rounds the curve from Windy Point as the train approaches Cumbers Pass.
