Hello to all the Friends members and railroad aficionados out there!
I am Evan West, and If you make it to Chama this summer you will probably see me around the railroad, so I'm here to introduce myself in advance. I have the honor of pioneering an internship program with the Friends of the Cumbres and Toltec. In the winter I am a full time student at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado, but this summer I will be serving as intern with the Friends and an employee of the railroad.
I'll be putting your membership dollars to work conducting some exciting projects, including reconstructing the complete rolling stock inventory! I will also be serving part time as a docent, and I will be working part time as a brakeman on board the trains.
I'm looking forward to meeting and working with as many of you as possible this summer, so if you see me around the railroad, please do stop me so that I can get a chance to meet you and tell you a little more about what I am doing. Until then, happy railroading!
Evan
