Go Get’em FIDO
A Projects Committee Announcement

With the release of FIDO the Projects Committee moves into the 21st Century. FIDO stands for Friends Integraded Data Online which is a suite of program modules specifically designed for the Projects Committee (PC) by former Board member and FIDO Project Director Phil McDonald, assisted by Jim Hickman.

Phil envisioned a similar Web based program in years past and with the Committee’s need for control over expenditures and a desire to improve project management the stage was set to develop a series of program modules with databases for history retention; that would eventually cover all elements of Projects. The first of several modules being introduced is the Purchase Order system released earlier this year. The second is Team Leader Registration a simple form for data collection that does not require the mailing of forms. The FIDO experience will provide a quick and easy access to project forms. The leader must have web access to reach the FIDO Web Site where information is stored for projects. The forms are similar to those used in the past and are simple to use. Making a copy of forms filled-in is available through your computer. Each leader can provide the specific information necessary for their projects. This will help the PC better provide tools and materials necessary to accomplish projects during work sessions.

FIDO Project Director Phil McDonald has announced the activation of the Team Leader Registration module. The module is now available for use by all Team Leaders for the 2012 work sessions. All forms needed for a project are available on-line. The Team Leader can at any time return to the Web and review previously posted forms to make changes or additions for project updates as necessary.

Next to be completed within the suite of programs is the Volunteer sign up and registration module, coming for the 2013 sessions.

Computerizing this data will greatly reduce the load of tedious paperwork for the PC and the Friends in general. It will result in faster and more accurate data collection. Hundreds of hours of work went into the development of FIDO. Thanks to the Project Director, Phil McDonald, the Friends will have a program that is usable for years to come for which we are extremely grateful.

Watch for more FIDO announcements coming in the future.
