Sharon's Uncommonly good Chama adventure 2

Unread postby Sharon Evans » Sun Jul 24, 2016 6:40 pm

The second day I did a chase of train 215 from Antonito to Chama with K27 463 leading the New Mexico set of cars. Place your cursor over the picture to see the caption.
1 K27 463 gets train 215 started out of Antonito.jpg

2 The 463 is gaining some speed as it moves away from the Antonito depot.jpg

3 The parlor car New Mexico has very few riders this day.jpg

4 All of train 215 is seen in this going away shot.jpg

7 The smoke from the 463 is visible on the horizon.jpg

This part of the road you can easily maintain 30 mph but the final mile or so down the hill into Osier is a 5 to 10 mph road.

10 Train 215 as seen across the valley before it gets to my location.jpg

11 The 463 rounds a curve as it approches the crossing I was stationed to take these shots.jpg

13 Train 215 has rounded a horseshoe curver to my next position.jpg

20 Train 215 with 463 leading is in Chama yard.jpg

More great pics Sharon! I have to agree with Tom, really a good eye, these aren't all just shoot a train photos, some thought goes into the location and surroundings. Nicely done!!

I also agree with Larry and Tom.
On the "Smoke" picture you captured an interesting optical illusion. It appears that the train is below where you were shooting from but it actually is probably at least a hundred feet above your shooting position.

WOW ! Great shots Sharon, especially in the remote areas we rarely get to see. Looking forward to more great pics later in the week.
