Disccusions regarding Work Sessions From Previous Years

Caboose 0503 in June, 2009

OK, this is "old news" but I thought I'd share some photos from Work Session D in 2009 during the restoration of Caboose 0503. Old timers here know the whole restoration story but but maybe some newbies would enjoy seeing some of the grease and grime and consider volunteering. 2009 was my first time volunteering; unfortunately I missed 2010 (back surgery) and 2011 (just one crazy summer) but look for me sometime this summer.

Enjoy:

For some lucky reason I happened to be there when the 0503 went into the pup tent for the very first time. It appeared that it was too tall to fit in spite of many measurements, but the tape measure didn't lie, it cleared with a few inches to spare. After 4 years of hard work, I just happened to be there when it came out of the swamp all finished and ready to work. Mike Thode was riding on the end like a proud papa, and I thought ol Mike's face was going to break as he was smiling so hard. Well done to all involved!
