#15 vs. the K's

Unread postby Quentin Lockwood » Tue Apr 08, 2014 7:17 am

On several occasions, #15, "The Ashby", has attempted to move one of the steam locomotives without success. Yesterday was an example of #15 being pulled out of the roundhouse, fired up, and coupled, or nearly coupled to 487, unsuccessfully. Is the issue a lack of power or coupler height or something else? Does the plow on 487 get in the way? Curious.

Last week #15 successfully moved the K's with apparent ease as seen on Larry's videos. My question: Were the unsuccessful attempts to move the locos earlier in the winter due to resistance of being cold and their grease/lubrication being extra stiff or was there an issue with #15 which was resolved? Just curious.
