Hello Friends,

Myself and 2 mates are travelling from Australia to New Mexico/Colorado in August 2014, can anybody give any recommendations on a good place to stay (or where is not a good place to stay), we will be in Chama for 3 nights, can't wait to visit, ride the trains, sample the local hospitality and a beer or two at the High Country Inn again (my second of many trips).
Thanks for any help.

Regards,
Wayne

My favorite locations are The Hotel and the Vista Del Rio. You can't go wrong with either one.

The Hotel (TheHotel.org) is on Terrace Ave across from the Depot. The owners are great people and the hotel is like stepping back in time, but not in a bad way.

The Vista Del Rio (VistaDelRioLodge.com) is more modern (better for most families) and is located on the Rio Chama south of town. *The owner has purchased an ad supporting the web cameras.

Be sure to check out Foster's and Sonny's while there. Best food in town!

Jason, where is Sonny's? I didn't notice it last September when there.

I liked Patty's (a trailer) when I was there working with the friends.

Tom, it's just north of the High Country on the other side of Highway 17. Fantastic chow.

Geez, I went right by it when going to High Country. Maybe it was closed in September. I stayed at the Chama Trails in as the Hotel & Shops was full.
